[The video feed opens to a set of eight Gym Badges. Look familiar? Isaac might have been copying Kimblee and Archer's recent video post.]

Four months.

[He doesn't appear on camera, instead keeping it focused on the badges.]

I guess that breaks your record, Kimblee.

[There might be a note of pride in his voice. Maybe. He doesn't usually sound all that proud, alright.]

So now what? I guess there are badges in Kanto but... what's the point? If what I've heard is right, defeating the Elite Four will send you home. But they're not open yet, right? So what's the point of getting the badges in Kanto?

[He doesn't sound upset, just confused.]

Also, has anyone taken that cruise? I got a ticket from the last Gym. I've never been on a boat.

[That last part is reflective, and Isaac cuts the feed abruptly. No, he hasn't gotten any better at this "social" thing, thanks for asking.]

Kimblee studies that for a moment before opening up a video feed; he actually doesn't seem displeased at having been bested there.]

Well, well. I suppose this warrants congratulations?

The Elite Four won't send you home. I've asked a few Gym Leaders, and they said nobody here can.

[Because if they could, they wouldn't even be in this world.]

But, personally, I'd say the gyms are worth it for the challenge more than anything.

Huh, really?

[Isaac doesn't particularly care; he can't return home anyway. He's kind of dead there. But that is an interesting idea; if the Elite Four can't send them home, who can? Who's responsible for bringing them here in the first place? He was under the impression it was the Elite Four, since they're tucked away and no one can get to them.]

I guess that's true. I'm nearing the max level limit though, so the gyms have been pretty easy lately. Hopefully Kanto's will prove to be more of a challenge.

Yeah. From what I understand, we're kind of seen as outliers. Some people don't even want us here.

[But for Riku, Johto and Kanto have presented exciting opportunities to explore. He's pretty relieved to hear they won't go home that easily.]

And if it's level you're worried about, the leaders in Kanto do have tougher teams. Six level 100's just waiting for some action.

Really? Well, I guess that would be more of a challenge.

[Sounds excellent!]

[Oh, that's amused him.]

Perhaps not, but it's an achievement either way, isn't it?

[It does feel good to get something accomplished, after all.]

As someone who's gone up against seven of those teams, I'd say it's more than worth it.

[He smirks.]

Especially Blue. His team is made up of mixed types, making him one of the tougher leaders out there.

Seven...? You must have trained really hard to defeat all of them.

[And a Gym Leader with mixed types? What is this madness?]

Well, I've had two years to build up my team. And with about twenty maxed out Pokémon, it's easy to mix and match.

[Even if he does have personal favorites, like his Charizard.]

Two years, huh? I guess you like it here, then?

Beats being stuck on an island with nothing to do.

Yeah, sounds like it would.

[Though islands are pretty awesome. Assuming they're anything like Cianwood City, that is.]

And where are you now? It's been a little while.

I've been exploring the other side of the ice caves, actually. I like it here.

[It's peaceful here. Blackthorn is a nice enough city as well, so he doesn't mind hanging out here.]

[Forgive Larry if he looks really bewildered and really skeptical.]

Yeah, I did.

[It's quite alright, Larry! Isaac is made of dumb and social fail, so he won't even notice that!]

I had a bit of help with training from a... friend of mine, so I guess I didn't do it all on my own.

[Not to mention said friend dragged him all over the place, so Isaac managed to use Fly to get to Mahogany and Blackthorn! \o/]

Did you do nothing but train? 'cause seriously man, you gotta be some sort of superhuman trainer to pull that off!

[It took him way over four months to get a Pokemon even close to Clair's levels.

The bottom line here is, he's jelly.]

Yeah, sometimes. But that's usually while I'm training.

[...yeah that's not how you sightsee, Isaac...]

That's...one way to do it, I guess. Oh well, I bet you can do plenty of that when traveling too.

[He sheepishly rubs the back of his neck.]

I gotta say I'm really impressed though. Sorry for being kinda skeptical at first. I guess some people are just built for the trainer thing.

I'm back in Goldenrod for the time being; it's nice and all, but I find that I prefer it farther north.

[He pauses for a moment; he can't be sure how much he wants to ask, but...

When he does speak again, however, his voice is casual.]

Ah, did Miss Altava ever get in contact with you? She said she was looking for you at one point.

Yeah, I can see why.

[He's still not fond of big cities, and Goldenrod seems to be the gathering point for just about everyone who found themselves in Johto unexpectedly.]

[Kimblee's question catches Isaac off-guard, and it takes him a moment to recover from the "whole brain is crying" expression.]

She did. We had some catching up to do.

[But from the sound of it, Kimblee already knows about the conversation. Did she say something about it? Isaac certainly doesn't blame her; he would have gotten in contact with Kimblee sooner if he'd actually wanted to hear what Kimblee had to say on the subject.]

[...But after the incident in Central Prison, he's dreading what Kimblee might say.]

...She said there's a list of names circling through Team Rocket. People they want taken care of. Apparently you took my name?

[It's posed as a question, but Isaac's expression says otherwise. He's somewhere between curious and hesitant, that much is plain.]

She mentioned something about a promotion as well. I guess you can get more information that way, right?
